HYROX Training in Rhode Island

Official HYROX Training Club

Ocean State CrossFit at Ironclad Fitness is Rhode Island's first and only official HYROX training gym. We were here before anyone else in the state, and the coaching, the programming, and the community we have built around HYROX reflect that. Whether you are preparing for your first finish line or targeting a podium time, this is where Rhode Island athletes come to train for it.

What is HYROX?

HYROX is a global fitness racing format that combines running with functional strength — and it has become one of the fastest-growing competitive fitness events in the world. Every HYROX race follows an identical format: eight one-kilometer runs, each immediately followed by one functional workout station. The same stations, the same distances, the same format at every event worldwide. That universal benchmark is exactly what makes HYROX so compelling — and so demanding.

The eight race stations are the Ski Erg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing Ergometer, Farmer's Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls. Each one targets a different demand. Together, they expose exactly what your training has — and has not — built. HYROX does not reward the pure runner or the pure lifter. It rewards the athlete who has built both.

HYROX is not a single age group or fitness level event. There are divisions for every level — from first-timers to elite competitors. Whatever your starting point, there is a race for you. And there is a class at OSCF to prepare you for it.

Why Train at Ironclad for HYROX?

As an official HYROX training club, our programming is not generic group fitness applied to HYROX movements. It is structured, race-specific conditioning built around the actual demands of the event — running economy, station transitions, grip endurance, and the ability to push hard after your cardiovascular system is already taxed. Our coaches understand the race because they have trained for it and coached athletes through it.

We have hosted athletes from first-timers to competitive age-groupers preparing for events across New England and beyond. The facility is equipped for every station in the race format. The coaching staff is trained in HYROX methodology. And the community here trains with the same intent you will bring on race day.

New to HYROX? Start Here.

You do not need race experience to start HYROX training at OSCF. Most members who come into the HYROX program have never competed — they have heard about it, they are curious, and they want to find out what they are capable of. That is exactly the right starting point. Our coaches will assess your current fitness, introduce you to the movements, and build a training path that gets you race-ready on your timeline.

Your IFC membership includes access to HYROX-specific training classes. You train alongside athletes at every level — from those targeting their first finish to those chasing podium spots. That range of experience makes every session better. The athletes ahead of you show you what is possible. The ones behind you remind you how far you have already come.

Rhode Island athletes have never had a dedicated HYROX training facility near Providence until now. If you have been looking for a gym that takes HYROX seriously, you have found it. Text 401-287-8553 or use the contact form below to get started.
